Representative Ilhan Omar made her first public outing on Friday since federal agents searched her Washington, D.C., residence on October 12. Fox News reported that Omar dined with Keith Ellison at Karmel Mall in Minneapolis. The four-floor building is considered the largest Somali mall in the world and houses 900 vendors. [1][14]

The public appearance follows a video posted to social media by Omar at the end of last week, showing her walking on a lake dock with her husband Tim Mynett. Fox News reported that the video featured a Somali hip-hop song about enemies scattering, which came amid an ongoing federal criminal probe. [2]

Federal investigators are examining questions surrounding Omar's identity and immigration records. As FTMQ News reported earlier, federal agents searched her Washington home on October 12 and seized cell phones, following a deleted 2013 social media post where she referred to her father as Nur Said. Omar has maintained that her name has always been Ilhan Omar. [14]

Former President Donald Trump has called for Omar to resign over immigration fraud allegations, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Omar is a member of the Democratic Party and has served as the U.S. representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district since 2019, covering all of Minneapolis and some neighboring suburbs.
