House Speaker Mike Johnson claimed on Monday that public polls underestimate Republican voter enthusiasm ahead of the upcoming United States midterm elections. Fox News and Newsmax both reported that Johnson dismissed current polling numbers showing a national advantage for Democrats. Speaking on The Ingraham Angle, Johnson warned that the Democratic Party has taken a far lurch to the left, which he argued will motivate voters to support Republicans. [1][3][4]

The claims come as conservative outlets report on campaign dynamics ahead of the election. According to Fox News, a group named the American Forge Coalition has sent mailers to voters in battleground House districts accusing vulnerable Republicans of not being conservative enough. Fox News described the efforts as a dark money scheme designed to depress Republican voter turnout, while Mediaite noted that television hosts presented Johnson with poor polling numbers for the party. [2][3]

James Michael Johnson is the 56th speaker of the United States House of Representatives and has represented Louisiana's 4th congressional district since 2017. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the election forecaster Sabato's Crystal Ball projected that Democrats could secure at least 218 seats to win the House majority. FTMQ News also previously reported that Johnson recently marked three years as House Speaker after raising 526 million dollars for his party. [5][7][8]

With the midterm elections scheduled just a week away, control of the House of Representatives remains at stake. Speaker Johnson asserted that public frustration with Democratic policies will drive Republican voters to the polls, despite conflicting forecasts about which party will win the majority. [1][4][7]
