Federal investigators interviewed Representative Ilhan Omar's older sister, Sahra Noor, following a raid on the congresswoman's Washington, DC home, according to reports by the New York Post and Fox News Digital. Three sources familiar with the matter stated that Noor voluntarily spoke with authorities last week. It remains unclear what the scope of the conversation was. [1][2]

The questioning took place after federal agents executed an October 12 search of the Washington residence Omar shares with her husband, Tim Mynett, as reported by the New York Post and Fox News Digital. The Daily Mail reported that federal authorities seized Omar's cellphone during the search and issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas, including to some of her relatives. [1][2][5]

Omar is a member of the Democratic Party and has served as the United States representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district since 2019. Born in Somalia, she is the first Somali-American elected to Congress. As FTMQ News reported earlier, federal agents searched her home in connection with a federal criminal fraud investigation into immigration paperwork submitted when she was a child. [8][10][12][13]

As FTMQ News previously reported, White House border czar Tom Homan warned that Omar could face denaturalization and deportation if federal investigators confirm that she committed immigration fraud. Federal authorities have not released further details about what the next steps in the investigation will be. [1][2][12]
