President Donald Trump attacked Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar during a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on Monday night, Fox News and NBC News reported. Fox News reported that the crowd chanted "deport" while Trump criticized the Minnesota congresswoman and the broader Somali community. The rally occurred hours after federal agents searched Omar's home in Northeast Washington, according to Fox News, the Washington Examiner, and the New York Post. [1][3][7][8]

Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a search warrant at Omar's home on Monday morning, the Washington Examiner reported. The Daily Mail and Fox News reported that the search relates to a criminal probe into her immigration paperwork. According to the Washington Examiner, Trump told reporters that federal investigators are looking at Omar carefully, but he denied any personal involvement in the investigation. [1][3][5]

Omar called the search part of an intimidation campaign by Trump and stated that she will not be silenced, according to The Guardian and the Daily Mail. As FTMQ News reported earlier, federal agents executed the search warrant at Omar's Washington home as part of a federal criminal fraud investigation into paperwork filled out by her father. [2][5][15]

Omar is a member of the Democratic Party who has served as the U.S. representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district since 2019. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, she is the first Somali-American elected to the United States Congress. [12][14]
