One dead and three injured in New Jersey vigil shooting

One person was killed and at least three other people were injured during a shooting at a vigil in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The New York Post reported that shots were fired at approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 26, 2026. Mourners had gathered at the location to remember a man who was killed roughly seven years ago, according to CBS New York as cited by the New York Post. [1]

Officials confirmed that an unidentified person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the New York Post. Three surviving victims were transported to University Hospital in Newark. The report noted that two of the victims suffered gunshot wounds to their arms and legs, while the third victim was shot in the chest.
