Trilateral talks between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine to end the war will resume in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11, UPI reported. United States envoy Steve Witkoff announced the negotiations on social media on Monday. The meetings in the capital of the United Arab Emirates will address post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts, and steps toward peace, according to UPI. [1]
The announcement follows earlier statements from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who said the three nations agreed to restart stalled negotiations in November, as FTMQ News reported earlier. As FTMQ News previously reported, Russian missile strikes hit Kyiv in October shortly after Moscow indicated a willingness to resume dialogue, and Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg. [1][6][7]
Previous trilateral meetings were hosted in Abu Dhabi in late January and early February 2026. Those sessions marked the first discussions involving all three countries since the Russian invasion began in February 2022. Earlier rounds of peace negotiations have taken place since 2022, following the previous Minsk agreements. [3][4]
Negotiating positions remain far apart. Russian President Vladimir Putin demands recognition of occupied territory, full control over claimed regions, a guarantee that Ukraine will not join NATO, military limits on Ukraine, and relief from sanctions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demands a ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Russian forces, the return of prisoners and children, and the prosecution of Russian leaders. [3]
