Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Sunday that a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia is set to take place in November. Euronews, Sky News, LBC, and Ukrainian outlets reported that the proposed talks aim to restart stalled peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, with the Russian invasion now in its fifth year. Speaking in an interview with Ukrainian television, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to talk. He noted that territorial issues must be addressed at a leadership level, while other matters fall within the remit of technical groups. Zelenskyy confirmed that all of these topics can be discussed during the November meeting. [1][12]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the United States previously aimed to resume technical level talks in November after its midterm elections. European officials have also sought to expand the trilateral peace talks into a multilateral format that includes representatives from the European Union. [16]

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has served as the president of Ukraine since 2019. He took office five years after Russia annexed Crimea and invaded the Donbas region, and he continues to lead the country through the full-scale invasion that began in February 2022. [13]
