An upstate New York teenager named Raymond Wright Jr. was found guilty of second-degree murder on November 2, 2026. The verdict was delivered after five hours of jury deliberation. Wright was convicted of strangling his girlfriend, Samantha Humphrey, after she informed him that she might be pregnant with his child when both were 14 years old, the New York Post reported. [1]
The victim disappeared in 2022, and her body was later discovered months later in a river in Schenectady. Local coverage from the Times Union, cited by the New York Post, noted that Wright is now 18 years old. The victim's father, Jeffrey Humphrey, arrived at the courthouse just as the defendant was being escorted out of the room following the decision. [1]
The father told reporters that he hoped the danger the defendant poses will not be ignored during future parole hearings. He expressed regret that he was unable to see the reaction of the killer in the courtroom after the guilty verdict was read. [1]
This case follows similar domestic homicides involving young women. As FTMQ News reported earlier, a Florida man named Billy Adams III was convicted for the 2023 murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Alana Sims, and her unborn child. [1][4]
