Arizona woman survives scissor attack by fiance weeks before wedding

An Arizona woman survived a violent attack by her fiance on October 5 in Glendale, Arizona, weeks before their planned wedding. The New York Post reported that 30-year-old Emily Byles was stabbed in the neck with scissors and severely beaten. She stated that her attacker was trying to end her life rather than just hurt her. Byles told Fox10 Phoenix that she had recently moved to Glendale to be with her beau, Zachary Velasquez. According to the New York Post, Byles suffered multiple stab wounds, a cut artery, and severe facial injuries. Photos showed her in a hospital wearing a neck brace with two black eyes. [1]

The victim was saved after her eldest daughter called 911 during the incident. Byles described her daughter as very brave for taking action during the attack. She noted that she was not expected to survive her injuries. [1]
