Musician Paul McCartney revealed on Friday during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he performed at the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce because the bride asked him to do so. Rolling Stone reported that McCartney spoke publicly for the first time about his performance at the couple's ceremony. [1]

According to Rolling Stone, Swift specifically requested that McCartney play the Beatles song I Want to Hold Your Hand. McCartney noted that he had not performed the track live since playing it with the Beatles in 1964. People magazine reported that McCartney initially joked to Swift that she should perform the song herself. [1][7]

Swift and Kelce were married on July 3, 2026, in a private ceremony held at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York City. The couple had previously announced their engagement in August 2025. [12]

During the same television appearance, McCartney also discussed uninviting comedian Larry David from future concerts after David did not sing along to the song Hey Jude, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Rolling Stone and Consequence both reported that McCartney recounted the event on the show. [1][5][15]
