Two year old girl dies after falling from Bronx apartment window

A two year old girl died after falling from a fifth floor apartment window in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx late on Tuesday. The New York Post reported that the child fell into an alleyway and was found unconscious. [1]

The victim was identified as Julia Cante Wilcox-Polanco. According to the New York Post, the child was fiddling with an accordion divider that supported a window air conditioning unit just before she fell. [1]

Her father, 36 year old Chayanne Polanco, described his daughter as a bubbly child who loved to climb. She was taken to Harlem Hospital following the fall, where her father later saw her. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, a separate tragic incident occurred in July when a two year old child died after falling from a fourth floor hotel window in Cyprus. [3]
