The Daily Mail reported that the city of Santa Monica, California, has experienced a cluster of murder suicides in 2026. Three couples have been found dead in their city residences since February 2026. Every case involved a man killing his partner before taking his own life. [1]

The Daily Mail stated that two of the couples were discovered less than three weeks apart in September and October. Another murder suicide reported this year in nearby Venice involved a non-profit official who had close ties to Santa Monica. [1]

The recent incidents represent a shift for the wealthy coastal enclave, which recorded no reported murder suicides from 2020 to 2025, according to the Daily Mail. The city seal of Santa Monica contains the official motto happy people in a happy city. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, police in other major metropolitan areas have also investigated recent domestic murder suicides. In November 2026, authorities investigated an incident in the Riverdale area of the Bronx where a 37 year old woman and her partner were found dead from gunshot wounds. [7]
