Irish rock group U2 spoke to BBC News in Dublin about a final duet recorded with Dolly Parton prior to her death, as reported by the BBC. Band members Larry Mullen Jr, the Edge, Bono, and Adam Clayton addressed the collaboration while discussing their latest album and their refusal to accept censorship on stage. [1][3]

The band began 2026 by releasing two EPs of new music, according to the BBC. The first EP, titled Days of Ash, featured urgent tracks that addressed current events, including the shooting of United States citizen Renee Good by an immigration officer. Drummer Larry Mullen Jr also reflected on past musical projects, calling the attempt to mix grunge and hip-hop on their 2006 single Get On Your Boots a catastrophic choice. [1]

Dolly Parton was an American singer, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and businesswoman who sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Parton wrote signature hits including Jolene, 9 to 5, and I Will Always Love You. She achieved 26 number-one singles on the Billboard country charts, won ten competitive Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Parton died on August 25, 2026. [7][8][9]

Related reports highlight Parton's ongoing cultural legacy, including the opening of a Dolly Parton musical on Broadway, the release of a Christmas merchandise collection, and the dismissal of a lawsuit against her nephew by her manager, according to Yahoo, Entertainment Focus, and Rolling Stone.
