Police investigate apparent murder suicide of Bronx couple inside Riverdale apartment

A man and a woman were found dead inside a Bronx apartment on Tuesday night in an apparent murder suicide, according to the New York Post. The New York City Police Department said officers discovered 37-year-old Andrea Cantarini and her 38-year-old boyfriend inside Cantarini's apartment on Blackstone Avenue in Riverdale around 9 p.m. [1]

The New York Post reported that both victims suffered fatal gunshot wounds to their heads. Sources told the outlet that the boyfriend appears to have shot and killed Cantarini before shooting himself. Police officers had responded to the apartment building after receiving a phone call from Cantarini's father. [1]

Authorities are withholding the name of the suspected gunman while they notify his family of the death, according to the New York Post. The police confirmed that the shooting remains under active investigation on Wednesday morning. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, violent incidents in the borough have drawn police attention in recent years. In March 2024, 44-year-old Collin Small was fatally shot in his Highbridge apartment in the Bronx, leading to murder charges against Sheldon Johnson Jr. [3][4]
