Death toll rises to four following Bronx apartment fire

Three more relatives have died following a apartment fire in the Bronx, bringing the total death toll from the blaze to four. The New York Post reported that the victims passed away days after the inferno trapped residents inside their home. [1]

The New York Post reported that the fire erupted around 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday in the kitchen of an 11th-floor apartment at the NYCHA Patterson Houses. According to the FDNY, a flaming lithium-ion e-bike battery sparked the blaze and blocked the residents' only exit from the apartment. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, a young boy died and four other family members were taken to hospitals in critical condition immediately after the fire. Firefighters dispatched to the building at 320 Morris Avenue rescued two adults and three children. The New York Post identified the first victim who died as ten-year-old Zion Maine. [1][4]
