A court in Paphos, Cyprus, has fined a father 3,000 euros, which is around 2,500 pounds, after his two-year-old son died in a fall from a hotel window. BBC News reported that the father admitted to causing death through a reckless, rash, or dangerous act, and was sentenced on Friday morning. [1]
The incident occurred on 12 July on the first day of the family holiday in Chlorakas, Cyprus. BBC News stated that the father thought the window was closed when he placed the child on the sill to look at a waterpark, before he lost control of him. The boy fell nearly 40 feet, or 12.1 metres, from the fourth floor of the King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort. [1]
BBC News reported that the father is named Joshua Foster and is 37 years old from Essex. The Sun reported that the father is 38 years old and is now free to return to the United Kingdom after being spared a jail sentence. [1][3]
