New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has threatened to take the administration of President Donald Trump to court if Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents do not stop using municipal property for operations. The New York Post, The Guardian, The New York Times, Politico, and Bloomberg all reported that the mayor warned the federal government about the unauthorized use of city-owned parking lots for immigration enforcement. [1][3][4][8][9][10]

The New York Post reported that Mayor Mamdani made the statements at a press conference in Brooklyn on November 2, 2026. In a letter addressed to United States Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, the mayor stated that federal agents have not secured authorization from New York City to use municipal lots and that the city does not authorize the practice, according to the New York Post and The Guardian. [1][3]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Mayor Mamdani and local Democrats had previously asked private parking lot operators in October 2026 to prevent immigration agents from using their facilities as staging areas. Zohran Kwame Mamdani took office in 2026 as the 112th mayor of New York City, becoming the first Muslim and first Asian American mayor of the city after previously representing the 36th district in the New York State Assembly. [11][13]

Separately, Fox News and NBC News reported on November 2, 2026, that Mayor Mamdani stated President Donald Trump agreed to grant an entry visa to the mother of a 15-year-old killed in a Bronx shooting. NBC News identified the teenager as Ghanaian immigrant Javits Frimpong, who was shot to death while walking to school in the Bronx. [5][6][7]
