A Michigan man carried a winning Powerball ticket worth one million dollars in his wallet for nearly two months before realizing he had won, UPI reported. Michael Vander Lugt, a 54 year old resident of Wyoming, Michigan, bought the ticket for the August 8 drawing from the Big Top Market in Wyoming. [1]

Vander Lugt told lottery officials that he tucked the ticket into his wallet alongside other lottery tickets and left it unchecked. He discovered the winning ticket recently after stopping at a local store to buy a pop, only to realize he lacked enough cash to pay. [1]

Powerball is an American lottery game coordinated by the Multi State Lottery Association. Drawings take place three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 24.87, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. [2][3]
