An Irish court is attempting to source a psychiatrist from outside the state to assess a 29-year-old man charged with murder, The Journal reported. Ten psychiatrists in Ireland have indicated they were unavailable to complete the mental health assessment. [1]

Reece Keogh was charged with the murder of Daniel O'Sullivan following an incident at Tynan's Bar on North Main Street in Youghal, County Cork, in April 2025. O'Sullivan was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries on 14 April 2025 and was later pronounced dead, according to The Journal. [1]

The court heard that some of the psychiatrists stated they were too busy to take on the case. Other doctors raised queries regarding the status of payments under the new legal aid scheme, The Journal reported. [1]
