The family of Henry Nowak have described how the trauma of his murder was worsened by watching police bodycam video of officers handcuffing him as he lay dying. BBC News reported that his father Mark, stepmother Katie, mother Lucy, and sister Olivia spoke to ITV about the incident. According to BBC News, the family stated that their world changed twice, first when police informed them of his death and again when they watched the footage. [1]

BBC News reported that his killer, Vickrum Digwa, falsely claimed to police that Nowak had racially abused him. Officers handcuffed the student while he repeatedly said that he had been stabbed. The Telegraph reported that Nowak's sister recalled their father crying out after he died. [1][2]

Eighteen-year-old university student Henry Nowak was murdered in Southampton, Hampshire, England, on 3 December 2025 by 23-year-old Vickrum Singh Digwa. Nowak was walking home when Digwa stabbed him five times with a 21-centimetre dagger. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Digwa was jailed for life on 1 June with a minimum term of 21 years for the murder. [7][8]

The police bodycam footage showing officers arresting Nowak as he lay dying sparked public outrage and parliamentary debate. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has ordered an independent review into the murder, as FTMQ News reported earlier. A television documentary featuring the family, titled Dear Henry: Our Fight for Justice, airs on Thursday 5 November on ITV. [1][7][8]
