Fatal multi car crash shuts down California 405 Freeway

At least one person died early Sunday morning following a fatal multi car crash on the 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks, California. The New York Post reported that the incident occurred at around 1:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the 101 Freeway. [1]

One car rolled onto its roof during the collision. Citing KTLA, the New York Post reported that the victim who died is believed to have been thrown from the vehicle onto the freeway. [1]

Authorities shut down all northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway following the crash. The lanes were reopened a few hours later. During the highway closure, another driver entered the restricted area and almost hit a firefighter who was working at the scene. [1]

The incident follows recent disruptions on California freeways. As FTMQ News reported earlier, two California Highway Patrol officers were injured on October 30 when a disabled car exploded on Interstate 215 in Moreno Valley. [5]
