Mother of Henry Nowak killer to be released early from prison

Kiran Kaur, the mother of murderer Vickrum Digwa, is set to be released early from prison under the government scheme designed to reduce prison overcrowding. The Daily Mail, BBC News, The Telegraph, ITVX, LBC, and GB News all reported on her upcoming release. The Daily Mail reported that the 53 year old is due to be let out of jail in December. BBC News reported that Kaur was jailed for three years in July for assisting an offender after removing the knife used by her son to kill student Henry Nowak from the crime scene. Having spent several months on remand, Kaur could serve less than half of her sentence and may be freed around the anniversary of the murder of Mr Nowak, according to ITV News coverage cited by BBC News. The Home Office has indicated that Kaur could be in line for deportation from the United Kingdom. BBC News and LBC reported that while the Home Office and Ministry of Justice declined to comment on individual cases, official policy remains to pursue deportation for eligible foreign offenders. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the government early release scheme aims to ease prison overcrowding by letting certain offenders leave prison after serving a third of their terms rather than half. The second phase of the scheme applied to inmates serving sentences up to two and a half years. [8]
