Haley Stevens appears alongside Republican Mike Rogers at Detroit church

Democratic Representative Haley Stevens attended a Sunday morning service at Perfecting Church in Detroit alongside Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers, Fox News and MSNBC reported. The appearance came after Stevens was disinvited from a planned church appearance with Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El Sayed, according to Fox News. The Washington Examiner reported that Stevens had originally announced on Friday that she accepted an invitation from Representative Jim Clyburn to appear with El Sayed. [1][2][3]

The joint church visit follows a public clash between Stevens and El Sayed over an advertisement sponsored by an outside group regarding Israel, MSNBC reported. According to the Washington Examiner, Jewish leaders condemned the advertisement as antisemitic. The Guardian reported that El Sayed asked Stevens to stay away from his campaign events to avoid distractions. [1][3][4]

The public dispute follows earlier attempts at party cohesion. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Stevens lost Michigan's Democratic Senate primary to El Sayed in August. The two candidates had originally planned to campaign together shortly before Election Day to demonstrate Democratic unity. [2][3][13][17]

Following the disinvitation, Rogers welcomed Stevens to campaign alongside him, according to MSNBC and CNN. The appearance highlights ongoing Democratic infighting in Michigan during the final days of a closely watched race to hold the open Senate seat. [2][3][7][9]
