Democratic leaders consider action against Haley Stevens after Republican endorsement

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries indicated Democratic leaders could discuss disciplinary action against Representative Haley Stevens after she endorsed Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers in Michigan, the Washington Examiner reported. The decision has drawn sharp criticism from Democratic leaders, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer describing the move as a despicable betrayal, according to reports from irishtimes.com and The Guardian. The endorsement followed a feud with former Democratic primary opponent Abdul El-Sayed over a campaign advertisement from an outside group that linked the high cost of living to United States support for Israel, irishtimes.com and The Guardian both reported. The Washington Examiner reported that Stevens' chief of staff Justin German resigned following her endorsement of Rogers. German had served as chief of staff since Stevens took office in the House of Representatives in January 2019. [7]
