Britons are purchasing tickets for a National Lottery Powerball jackpot draw worth 440 million pounds, the Daily Mail reported. Players pay 4 pounds per line to enter the draw alongside participants in the United States, with winning results expected on Thursday morning. [1]

The Daily Mail noted that jackpots in the game can grow into billions of dollars paid out over 30 years. The outlet compared the prize money to the fortune of singer Dolly Parton, who had a net worth of more than 450 million dollars when she died. [1]

Separately, the regulator of the National Lottery in Ireland received 28 complaints during 2025, according to reports by the Irish Times. The outlet detailed that 10 complaints concerned online experience, seven related to game design, five involved information supplied to players, and five came from retailers. One complaint resulted in the lottery operator agreeing to remove the phrase easy money from the Telly Bingo television show script. [2][5]

The National Lottery in the United Kingdom was established in 1994 as a state-franchised system. It is regulated by the Gambling Commission and operated by Allwyn Entertainment, which succeeded Camelot Group in February 2024. As FTMQ News reported earlier, a Cork syndicate recently claimed a 5.6 million euro jackpot from a Quick Pick ticket bought in Mahon Point Shopping Centre. [8][9]
