Brandon Boudreaux is speaking publicly after surviving a 2019 shooting outside his home in Gilbert, Arizona, that prosecutors linked to a murder plot by Lori Vallow Daybell, the New York Post and Fox News both reported. A gunman opened fire on Boudreaux as he pulled his Tesla into his driveway on October 2, 2019, narrowly missing his head. [1][2]
The gunman fired from a parked Jeep Wrangler after the vehicle's rear window opened, according to the New York Post and Fox News. One bullet struck the driver's-side door of the Tesla and shattered the window. Prosecutors said Vallow Daybell recruited her brother, Alex Cox, to kill Boudreaux while Boudreaux was going through a contentious divorce from her niece, Melani Pawlowski. [1][2]
Vallow Daybell and her husband, Chad Daybell, led a small apocalyptic group that media outlets described as a doomsday cult. Investigations revealed financial motives as well as shared apocalyptic religious beliefs behind their crimes. Ultimately, Chad Daybell, Lori Vallow Daybell, and Alex Cox killed four people and attempted to kill another. [3]
Vallow Daybell was convicted in Arizona of two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The charges related to the 2019 shooting death of her previous husband, Charles Vallow, and the attempted murder of Boudreaux. She was sentenced to two consecutive life terms. [5]
