Mondelēz International, the owner of Cadbury and Toblerone, has issued a legal letter to vegan chocolate manufacturer Moo Free demanding that it remove its White Choccy Snowballs from store shelves, according to the Guardian. The multinational confectionery company claims the use of the word snowball infringes on its existing trademark. Cadbury Snowballs were first introduced to consumers in the United Kingdom in 1966. [1]
The dispute centers on Moo Free's festive confectionery product, which the Guardian reported consists of gluten-free, biscuit-flavoured rice balls encased in dairy-free white chocolate. Mondelēz currently manufactures and distributes its own version under the Mini Snow Balls product brand. [1]
John Cadbury originally established the Cadbury enterprise as a small grocery shop in Birmingham, England, back in 1824. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Mondelēz previously initiated legal action in the High Court in London against another British chocolate maker, Catherine's Originals, over allegations of trademark infringement regarding bar shape design.
