Wisconsin police video captures deer breaking in and out of apartment

Police in Wisconsin released body camera footage showing a deer breaking into an apartment through a window and escaping through another window. United Press International reported that the Appleton Police Department shared the video to social media after officers responded to the incident. [1]

Officers were investigating the apartment while no residents were present inside. United Press International reported that while officers were outside, the video captured the deer exiting the building by shattering a second window. [1]

Appleton Police Department noted in their social media post that the event serves as a reminder that deer are currently on the move. United Press International reported that officials acknowledged an apartment break-in by a deer is unusual, but highlighted increased deer movement during this time of year. [1]

Wisconsin is the 30th state of the United States, having joined the union in May 1848. Deer are members of the Cervidae family and are herbivores with specialized four-chambered stomachs for fermenting plant material. [4][5]
