More than 40,000 homes, farms, and businesses in Ireland are without electricity following heavy winds and rain caused by Storm Boelo, the Irish Examiner reported. The brunt of the damage was felt in the northwestern region of the country. [1]

The Irish Examiner reported that ESB Networks crews deployed at first light to repair the lines. Met Éireann weather warnings remain active, but the energy provider stated that it expects to restore supply to the vast majority of impacted customers by the evening. The report added that flights face ongoing cancellations and delays due to the severe weather. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Storm Boelo arrived within two days of Storm Austen, causing severe outages across western Irish counties and northern parts of the United Kingdom. The UK Met Office previously issued amber warnings for wind gusts reaching 80 miles per hour, while the National Grid restored power to more than 124,000 British properties by Saturday. [4]
