Rathgormack secured their fourth successive Waterford senior football title on Sunday after defeating The Nire by nine points at Fraher Field, the Irish Examiner and BreakingNews.ie reported. The final score ended 2-13 to 0-10 in favour of the champions. It is the first time the club has won four titles in a row, and the first time any club has achieved the feat in 21 years. [1][2]
According to the Irish Examiner, goals from Stephen Curry and Reece O'Mahony helped secure the victory for manager Kenny Hassett's side. The Nire had started the match strongly despite facing a strong breeze, opening the scoring within two minutes through Dylan Guiry before Conor Gleeson doubled their lead. Jason Curry then kicked a free and scored another point to respond for Rathgormack. [1]
The Waterford Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition held between the top clubs in County Waterford. [4]
Following their victory in the county final, Rathgormack will progress to play Clare champions Éire Óg Inis in the Munster championship, the Irish Examiner reported. [1]
