Republican candidate Steve Hilton rallied supporters during campaign appearances in Southern California on Wednesday ahead of the state gubernatorial election. The New York Post reported that Hilton held two scheduled appearances in the Los Angeles area, including a press conference in Altadena alongside the non-profit group HPP Cares. His Democratic rival, frontrunner Xavier Becerra, skipped public campaign events on the same day, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [2][7][8]

Fox News reported that the California Post endorsed Steve Hilton for governor. Hilton has proposed policy measures that include eliminating state income taxes on earnings up to $150,000. He has also called for lowering fuel costs by eliminating state gas taxes and rolling back green energy policies that increase household expenditures. [1]

The New York Post separately reported that Democratic candidate Xavier Becerra expressed openness to a mileage-based tax on drivers to fund road repairs across California. In an interview with KCRA reporter Ashley Zavala, Becerra stated that everything should be on the table to maintain state infrastructure. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Becerra noted that electric vehicle drivers use roads without paying gas taxes, while maintaining a lead in gubernatorial polling. [4][7]
