Steve Hilton campaigns in Southern California as rival Xavier Becerra skips events

Republican candidate Steve Hilton rallied voters in Southern California on Wednesday as the gubernatorial election approached, according to the New York Post. Hilton held two public events in the region, including a press conference in Altadena. The New York Post reported that Democratic frontrunner Xavier Becerra skipped public events on the same day. During his visit to Altadena, an area previously affected by fires, Hilton appeared alongside HPP Cares, the New York Post reported. The organization is a non-profit community group that provides assistance to local families. [1]

Hilton is a former political adviser to British Prime Minister David Cameron and previously hosted a program on Fox News. He is competing for the governorship against Becerra, a member of the Democratic Party who formerly served as United States secretary of health and human services and attorney general of California. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Hilton announced his Republican candidacy for governor in April 2025. His recent campaign strategy has included releasing advertisements generated with artificial intelligence technology to challenge Becerra on key policy issues ahead of the voting date. [8][10][11]
