Severe storms battered northern Europe on October 25, cutting electricity supplies to more than 150,000 homes, Euronews and the South China Morning Post reported. Storms Austen and Boelo hit the region within 24 hours of each other over the weekend. The severe weather forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights and disrupted telephone networks across several countries. [1][2]

Euronews and the South China Morning Post both reported that winds reached speeds of up to 135 kilometres an hour in Argyll and Bute in western Scotland. Fallen trees and downed power cables blocked roads and railway lines across the country. According to Euronews, ferry services were cancelled in multiple nations stretching from Scotland to Denmark. [1][2]

Tens of thousands of households in Britain, France, and Germany lost electricity during the double storm event, according to the South China Morning Post. Euronews added that falling trees caused injuries to people in the affected areas, alongside widespread transport and travel cancellations. [1][2]
