Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded United States First Lady Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, UPI and the South China Morning Post reported. A presidential decree cited her significant personal contribution to humanitarian support for Ukraine, active human rights efforts, and work aiding children affected by Russian aggression, UPI added. [1][2]

The award follows her involvement in brokering a partial ceasefire in the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky, according to the South China Morning Post. That ceasefire permitted the evacuation of civilians from the area, the outlet noted. [2]

The South China Morning Post and BBC News both report that the US first lady is scheduled to host representatives from Kyiv and Moscow at the White House on Thursday. As FTMQ News reported earlier, these talks follow the October 23 ceasefire in Oleshky that enabled nearly 800 people to escape the enclave along the Dnieper River. [2][6][15][16]

Melania Trump is serving as first lady of the United States since 2025, having previously held the role from 2017 to 2021. Presidential awards in Ukraine are granted by the head of state to recognize meritorious contributions to national defense, human rights, and state improvement. [11][12]
