Melania Trump to host Russian and Ukrainian officials at White House

US First Lady Melania Trump will host officials from Moscow and Kyiv at the White House on Thursday, Euronews, France 24, and Kurdistan24 reported. France 24 added that the meeting will include human rights chiefs from both nations. The gathering comes ahead of broader negotiations in Abu Dhabi intended to end the war in Ukraine, according to Euronews and France 24. [1][2][11]

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Melania Trump a national honour, Euronews, the BBC, The Guardian, and The Independent reported. Euronews and France 24 noted that the award recognised her role in brokering a partial ceasefire that permitted civilians to evacuate from a Russian-occupied town. As FTMQ News reported earlier, that cease-fire in Oleshky allowed nearly 800 people to escape the enclave along the Dnieper River. [1][2][8][9][10][15]

Melania Trump is serving as the first lady of the United States for a second nonconsecutive period, having previously held the role from 2017 to 2021. The White House, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., is the official residence and workplace of the president of the United States. [12][14]

The upcoming discussions have renewed hopes for peace as Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine grinds through its fifth year, Euronews and France 24 reported. Euronews added that recent rapprochement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has raised concerns that the United States might turn its back on Kyiv. [1][2]
