High school soccer player Adam Vitulano scored a double overtime winning goal to lead Farmingdale to a 2-1 playoff victory over Plainview-Old Bethpage, the New York Post reported. The victory lifted the Dalers into the Nassau County finals. The goal came one day after the 16-year-old junior lost his father, John, to liver cancer. [1]
The goal was the first playoff goal of his career, according to the New York Post. Vitulano stated that it was one of the greatest moments of his life and that he felt his father would have been proud of the accomplishment. [1]
Nassau County is located in the central portion of Long Island, an island in southeastern New York State that extends eastward into the Atlantic Ocean. Geographically, Long Island comprises Kings, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. [7]
