BBC News and The Independent reported that 20-year-old tennis player Felix Balshaw is competing for France as he rises in the world rankings. Balshaw, who celebrated his first ATP Tour victory this week, is the son of former England rugby player Iain Balshaw. [1][9]

According to BBC News, Balshaw was born in West Yorkshire while his father played for Leeds Tykes. His family later relocated to Biarritz when his father joined the French Top 14 league. [1]

BBC News noted that his father, Iain Balshaw, was part of the England squad that won the Rugby World Cup in 2003. England remains the only Northern Hemisphere team to win the Men's Rugby World Cup, which is contested every four years between top international rugby union teams. [1][13][15]

London Now also reported on Balshaw's decision to represent France while pursuing his career on the professional tennis tour. [12]
