Footballer Kieron Bowie has scored his first goal for Scotland during a match against North Macedonia, BBC Sport and Yahoo Sports reported. The goal comes after the striker was previously omitted from the national team squad that traveled to the USA. [1][2][8]

According to BBC Sport, Scotland manager Steve Clarke assembled his squad on May 19 for the World Cup journey but chose not to select Bowie. At the time, Bowie was playing and scoring for Italian side Hellas Verona, who were heading for relegation from Serie A. [1]

The national team struggled offensively at the tournament, scoring only once through John McGinn, BBC Sport reported. Bowie revealed that Clarke sent him a message explaining his decision to leave him out of the squad, adding that he accepted the outcome and focused on bouncing back. [1]
