New York Attorney General Letitia James failed to investigate three of New York City's most scandal-scarred homeless shelter operators while accepting campaign donations from their representatives, the New York Post reported. Records show James took more than $56,000 over the past eight years from top executives, lobbyists, and spouses connected to the organizations. [1]
The three shelter operators identified in the report are Samaritan Daytop Village, Acacia Network Housing, and CORE Services Group. The New York Post reported that none of the three groups have faced enforcement action from the office of the attorney general since James took office. [1]
James has served as the 67th attorney general of New York since 2019. She is a member of the Democratic Party and is the first Black person to hold the office. James is currently running for re-election against Republican challenger Saritha Komatireddy, FOX 5 New York and Newsday reported. [2][4][5]
The allegations follow earlier reports regarding James' office. As FTMQ News reported earlier, whistleblower Daniel Wiesenfeld claimed he was ordered to pursue a case against Donald Trump despite finding no initial evidence of illegal conduct. [7]
