A whistleblower inside the New York state Attorney General's Office has accused Attorney General Letitia James of ordering prosecutors to dig up dirt on President Donald Trump, the New York Post reported. Daniel Wiesenfeld, a prosecutor in the Investor Protection Bureau, stated that he was told to keep trying to build a case despite finding no evidence of a crime. [1]

According to the New York Post, Wiesenfeld claimed that Bureau Chief Shamiso Maswoswe instructed him to continue the effort because it was what James demanded. The whistleblower stated that the directive persisted even after a year-long investigation failed to uncover any wrongdoing. [1]

James has served as the 67th attorney general of New York since 2019, having been first elected in 2018. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first Black person to hold the office and the first Black woman elected to statewide office in New York state. [8]

The claims surface alongside separate political and legal challenges involving the New York attorney general. As FTMQ News reported earlier, James is facing recusal demands in a case involving Cornell University students due to concerns over past public comments. [4][5][6][11][12]
