A Republican internal survey shows Democratic incumbent Letitia James leading Republican contender Saritha Komatireddy by six percentage points in the race for New York attorney general, the New York Post reported. The poll was conducted for the Komatireddy campaign following a recent debate performance. [1]
The new figures show James with 50.7 percent support compared to 44.7 percent for Komatireddy, according to the New York Post. The report noted that four percent of voters remain undecided. The six point margin is roughly half of the 13 point lead James held in a Siena University survey conducted last month. [1]
James has served as the 67th attorney general of New York since 2019, as FTMQ News reported earlier. She is the first Black person elected to serve as New York attorney general and the first Black woman to hold statewide office in New York. Campaign friction previously escalated when Komatireddy issued a mock 52 count indictment accusing James of dereliction of duty, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [2][4]
