An artificial intelligence humanoid robot interacted with visitors at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Sunday in New York City, according to the New York Post. The machine was brought to the park to learn how to nurture and interact with humans so it could eventually work as a companion, teacher, or babysitter. [1]

The $89,000 robot was developed by the California company Faraday Future, the New York Post reported. Hong Rao, the chief technology officer of the company, operated the life-sized machine using a small remote control while it walked through the park. Many visitors appeared unfazed by the robot as it danced and sang to children. [1]

The device remains in its development stages and relies on real-world experiences and human interaction to build its intelligence, according to the New York Post. Developers hope these field trials will help refine its capabilities for everyday domestic and educational settings. [1]

Public interactions with autonomous devices have drawn mixed reactions in other cities. As FTMQ News reported earlier, a 78-year-old retired university professor was arrested in Philadelphia after blocking an autonomous Uber Eats delivery robot to protest against machines taking human jobs. [2][3]
