Carolyn Marvin, a 78-year-old retired University of Pennsylvania professor, was arrested for disorderly conduct on Wednesday after blocking an autonomous Uber Eats food delivery robot in Philadelphia. The New York Post and PhillyVoice both reported that police officers asked Marvin multiple times to step aside, but she refused to move. [1][2]

The New York Post reported that Marvin staged the one-woman blockade to protest against autonomous robots taking jobs away from human workers. Despite her arrest, Marvin vowed to continue protesting against the machines. [1]

Uber Eats is an American online food ordering and delivery platform created by the ride-hailing company Uber in August 2014. The platform operates on a commission-based model, charging restaurants a percentage of sales alongside consumer delivery fees. [3][5]

According to PhillyVoice, Marvin had been blocking Uber Eats delivery robots in the city for several months prior to her arrest on Wednesday. [2]
