Germany is considering withdrawing as host of the 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship, Euronews and Flashscore.com reported. The move follows announcements from multiple European federations stating they will refuse to face Russia at the tournament. [1][10]

Finland, Norway, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Denmark, and Sweden have all stated they will not play against Russia, according to Euronews. The Moscow Times also reported that Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, and the Czech Republic agreed to the boycott, while The New Voice of Ukraine noted Sweden's decision to join the refuse list. [1][7][8]

The boycott statements follow a legal decision. Euronews reported that the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled on 30 October to overturn a four year ban on Russian national teams. Germany's ice hockey federation stated that the ruling fundamentally changes the situation for it as host nation. [1]
