Democrats have won control of the United States Senate in the midterm elections, according to the Washington Examiner, the Guardian, DW, Forbes, and Time Magazine. The outcome gives the party major leverage over President Donald Trump during the final two years of his presidency. [1][2][7][10][11]

The Washington Examiner reported that Iowa secured the 51st seat for Democrats shortly before midnight. The outlet detailed that Democrats flipped Republican-held seats in North Carolina, Texas, Kansas, and South Carolina. NBC News reported that Democrats also won control of the House of Representatives. [1][9]

Before the results were finalized, President Donald Trump stated that he possesses the ultimate power of the veto to block Democratic legislation if the party took control of Congress, according to Fox News. [5][6]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, all 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats were on the ballot during the 2026 midterm elections. The elections determine political control for the remainder of Donald Trump's presidential term. [14]
