The New York Post reported that Alfonso defeated Democratic candidate Fred Clark, a former state lawmaker, capturing 56 percent of the vote to 44 percent with almost all ballots counted. [1][2][3][4][5]
Following his victory, the Wausau Pilot and Review, WPR, and the New York Post reported that Alfonso will be the youngest member of the new Congress. Duffy previously served as the Republican representative for Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District from 2011 to 2019, as well as the district attorney of Ashland County, Wisconsin, before being sworn in as Transportation Secretary in January 2025.
