United States Senator Elizabeth Warren joined Democratic nominee Abdul el Sayed on the campaign trail in Detroit on Monday to rally support ahead of Election Day. The Washington Examiner reported that the appearance at the Majestic Theatre came after Representative Haley Stevens flipped her endorsement from el Sayed to Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers. The Guardian, Fox Business, and MSNBC all reported that Stevens's sudden decision to back the Republican candidate caused a fierce reaction within the Democratic Party. [1][4][6][7]

Stevens told CNN that el Sayed was getting angrier and that recent campaign advertisements influenced her choice to support Rogers, according to the Washington Examiner. The Washington Examiner also reported that the rift expanded after el Sayed declined to condemn a campaign advertisement that blamed United States financial support for Israel for rising domestic grocery prices. [2][5]

The party backlash against Stevens has been intense. NBC News reported that House Democrats are considering whether to banish Stevens following her decision. The Guardian added that former President Donald Trump praised Stevens for changing her endorsement to Rogers. [6][10]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, el Sayed defeated Stevens in the August Democratic primary for the Michigan Senate seat. The candidate had previously requested that Stevens refrain from appearing at his remaining campaign events following their public dispute over the campaign advertisement regarding Israel. [12][13]
