Passengers on board the MV Odyssey cruise ship were given seven hours to disembark in Cambodia after the vessel suspended its continuous world voyage. According to the Guardian, the residential cruise was marketed as a continuous journey around the globe, but high operational expenses halted the voyage. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, the vessel, also known as the Villa Vie Odyssey, suspended its global journey because soaring fuel prices made operations unsustainable. The Florida-based operator, Villa Vie Residences, began arranging temporary living plans and disembarkation for those on board. [1][2]
The cruise ship originally departed from Belfast in October 2024 to begin its global itinerary. As FTMQ News reported earlier, monthly fuel costs per cabin reached up to 8,000 dollars in parts of Asia following the war in Iran. [2]
