California woman charged after puppy deliberately run over and killed

A 75-year-old woman in Anaheim, California, faces federal charges after allegedly luring a nine-week-old puppy under her vehicle with food and running it over, UPI and Yahoo reported. Hanh Minh Nguyen was charged with animal crushing, a federal felony that carries a potential sentence of up to seven years in prison. [1][3]

Prosecutors said federal investigators obtained surveillance video from September showing a woman releasing a black-and-white pit bull puppy from a Honda Odyssey minivan. According to UPI, the video appears to show the woman dropping food near the driver side door and gesturing to the animal before running it over. [1]
