Woman charged after fatal stabbing on Chicago Far South Side

A transgender woman allegedly stabbed a man to death on Chicago's Far South Side on Wednesday, the New York Post reported citing the Chicago Tribune. Prosecutors stated that 32-year-old Kelly Day attacked 50-year-old Larry Young, leaving him dead after a knife broke off in his skull. [1]

According to the New York Post, Day claimed that she had been mocked earlier that day for using a women's bathroom at a McDonald's restaurant. She was with her partner and seven-year-old stepson at the time of the assault. Prosecutors noted that Young was not part of the group of strangers who had allegedly insulted Day hours prior to the attack. [1]

Assistant State Attorney Sara Grgurov detailed the evidence against the suspect during court proceedings. The New York Post reported that surveillance footage captured Day holding a knife above Young while he was on the ground. She then stabbed him 13 times in the head, neck, and upper shoulders. [1]
